Sprague Hotel Developers Has Strong Showing at Hoosier Hospitality Awards

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 5, 2021) – Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) announced the Hoosier Hospitality Award winners today. Nominations for Hoosier Hospitality Awards are submitted by community members and destination patrons and are reviewed and selected by IDDC. Outstanding service is a significant factor in determining whether a person returns to an individual business or destination.

Sprague Hotel Developers had five recipients out of the 16 winners for the 2021 Lieutenant Governor’s Hoosier Hospitality Award. Sprague Hotel Developers’ President and CEO Janeen Sprague expressed her gratitude for the award winners and the strong showing of the company team members overall.

“I am so proud to have each one of them on our team,” Sprague said, “It means a lot to our company that these team members have earned this award and are recognized for the excellent hospitality they give our guests.”

The 2021 Hoosier Hospitality winners are:

She even planned a reception for service members to show much they are appreciated. Reigan not only shows compassion for every guest, team member but for every person she encounters.

Gio Lorenzo - Hilton Garden Inn, Indianapolis South/Greenwood, Indianapolis (Marion County)

During the last 18 months, Gio has never allowed his stress or anxiety to show. He loves taking care of others, and it shows with every interaction he has.

Karen Shockley - Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Columbus/Edinburgh, Edinburgh (Bartholomew County) Photo Unavailable
Karen works with all her heart to make sure that every guest has a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Columbus-Edinburgh by making sure each room is spotless. She has spent more than 12 years in the tourism industry doing just that. As the Executive Housekeeper, Karen also looks for opportunities to make a guest's stay memorable. During COVID, a newlywed couple was staying at the hotel. Upon check-in, they told the front desk they had issues getting their wedding together because of the pandemic. They had to change the wedding date several times as well as caterers. Once Karen heard this, she knew she had to make their stay the best possible. She went out to get chocolates, wine, and two wine glasses. Then she made the delivery to the newlyweds' room.

Sharon Townsend - Hampton Inn, Seymour, Seymour (Jackson County)
Sharon Townsend lights up the lobby at the Hampton Inn in Seymour. Guests are greeted with her smile and "Hoosier Hospitality" as soon as they walk into the lobby. The hotel lost power for nearly four hours one day. Sharon pitched in to check people in the "old-fashioned way." Sharon spoke with the guests, would tell them jokes and entertain any small children. She made sure the guests had the best experiences during this unique check-in process. Sharon is always asking guests about their road trips and vacation. She uses this knowledge to pass along recommendations to other travelers coming through the area.

Jose Vidal - Home2 Suites, Indianapolis South/Greenwood, Indianapolis (Johnson County)
Jose Vidal is the Executive Housekeeper at the Home2 Suites in Beech Grove. He's always the first in and the last to leave. Jose's attitude reflects in the cleanliness of the property. You can find Jose on the front line guiding his team through projects. Keeping the lobby clean during the winter months is always a challenge. Jose will stay after his shift to make sure the lobby is clear of salt and snow. "This is my home. I can't let anyone walk in here with a messy lobby," said Jose. With Jose at the helm, cleanliness scores and brand standards are always high.
